Strawberry Almond Thumbprint Cookies + 2015 Favorites!

12/31/2015

Hello, it's me...

...and these super festive and super yummy cookies.  Have you ever thought about making thumbprint cookies?  I never did.

But here they are!

Double Chocolate Oreo Brownies

12/17/2015

Is there a pack of Oreos in your pantry that you haven't opened or eaten yet?  Yes?

You could definitely enjoy those on their own or with a glass of milk where you'll dunk the entire pack one by one and the cookies will get mushy and fall apart... things can get real messy but at least you'll have Oreo milk!

But sometimes Oreo milk or plain Oreos just won't do, right?  Think of them mixed within something that's just as delicious; like ice cream or cookies or brownies!

Matcha Pistachio Pound Cake

12/10/2015

One afternoon, my mom and I were at a coffee shop.  I ordered their tiny chocolate chip cookies (emphasis on tiny) and a soda while my mom got a matcha muffin and tea.

I didn't think it was a legit matcha muffin because it wasn't green.  I took a bite.  Then another.  Oh my glob.  The muffin itself was lovely and tender and had a very faint aftertaste of something good (clue: it's the matcha doing its thang). Needless to say, I liked it very, very much.

That very day I announced (mentally) that I shall bake anything matcha as soon as possible!

S'mores Cupcakes

12/04/2015

My friend, can you actually believe it's already December?  Can you? Can you?  Because I can't.

This year is like the one sports car whizzing past all the other cars on the highway, leaving all the other cars behind.  That is if it isn't bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I can go on and on about how I'm still in disbelief that we're only a few more weeks until the new year (!!!), but we have something to discuss.

Yes.  That.

Cookies and Cream Cake

11/30/2015

There's a wall in my bedroom that is filled with sticky notes.  In those notes I have written down the recipes I want to try, what ingredients are needed and when I plan to make them.

I enjoy looking at that wall because it serves as a reminder that I can try to be organized.

Not that I follow what's on that wall strictly.  I don't.  I can't.

Ahh!!

Oatmeal Chocolate Coffee Cookies

11/21/2015

Admittedly, I am (absolutely) not oatmeal's biggest fan.

But what do I have for you today?  Another post about oatmeal cookies!  Ha!

Chocolate Lava Cupcake

11/16/2015

I remember watching Barefoot Contessa and Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals (way, way) before and enjoying whatever meal they prepare and cook on the show.  They made cooking seem so easy and fun (but the dishes!) and were truly inspirational.  But that was before I got into baking and gutsy enough to stand in front of the stove and attempt to cook anything.

So I mainly tuned in just for the sake of watching them cook up delicious food and eventually getting hungry because of it.  Are you guilty of the same habit?  We aren't alone on this I'm sure!

Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies with a twist!

11/07/2015

When I discover a new blog and get smitten with everything about it instantly, I'd spend a good amount of time on it.

Going through the posts, admiring the beautiful photos, enjoying the funny stories...it's a wonderful cycle really.

And everything is made even more wonderful when a cookie recipe has you inhaling 3 (okay, maybe 4) cookies as soon as they come out of the oven.  Don't tell me it hasn't happened to you!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake

Apple Cinnamon Streusel Muffins

10/18/2015

By the time you see this, you may have already seen a ton of apple recipes.

As long as I can remember, the Internet never fails to deliver a supply of every recipe imaginable using the famed shiny red fruit come this time of the year.  Right?!

So if you don't routinely make anything with apples during this magical month, let's both join the apple party together!

Cinnamon Roll Bread

10/11/2015

When I began baking, all I envisioned making were cookies, cupcakes, brownies and cakes...nothing too fancy.

And I never thought about making bread.

Simple Buttermilk Pancakes with Homemade Brown Sugar Syrup

10/04/2015

I almost always opt for breakfast food whenever we eat out.  I just can't help myself!  I am definitely a loyal member of the breakfast foodie club*.

How about you?

Sure, I'd order pasta or something else that isn't under the 'breakfast' category sometimes.  Ask my mom, I always order breakfast even if it is lunch or dinnertime!

One-Dish Baked Garlic Chicken

9/26/2015

When a recipe is too easy, I immediately expect something will go wrong with it.  Like it won't taste any good.  But I can be pessimistic about almost everything.  How sad, huh?

Pessimist or not, this one-dish meal won't fail you.  Ever.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

9/19/2015

I know what you're thinking.

We're still months away from the holidays and yet here I am with these delicious chocolaty chewy cookies.

But sometimes it helps to prepare in advance, right? Like how you'll note in your planner or calendar when you'll be making these amazing cookies...  Important stuff like that need to be allotted time.

Double Chocolate Cashew Nut Brownies

9/12/2015

After I made these brownies, I realized I didn't use my mixer.

Again.

I  appreciate all the hard work it is able to do but most of the time a no-mixer recipe is just what I need.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

9/05/2015

I don't think I've ever come across any shop that sell this cake.

Actually, scratch that.  I'm 100% certain that there is one cupcakery that does but only for a short while.

Considering how it's so good and such a classic, I feel it should be made available year round!

Lemon Sponge Cake

8/29/2015

When I made this sponge cake, it had been pouring rain all day.

It was a lovely time for baking, really.

Except I was racing against time because it was getting dark too fast!

But I managed to let the cake finish cooling and rushed to take pictures!

#FoodBloggerProblems indeed!

Cashew Nut Banana Bread

8/22/2015

On this dreary day I type this post about a simple bread.

Seriously, the sky is nothing but gray!  But a little rain is very much welcome because it sure is humid in here.

And if it does rain, I'm all set because of this banana bread.

It is the best!

Naked Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Italian Meringue Buttercream

8/15/2015

When one blogs, especially if it is food-related, then it's inevitable that there will be at least one red velvet post.

At least one.

And 33 posts and 10 months later, I finally have one!

I won't mind if you take a few of those strawberry-flavored pyramid-like chocolates!

Pineapple Carrot Walnut Loaf

8/07/2015

You know a recipe is straight up amazing when the day after you first made it, you make it again.  And again.

And again.

Shrimp in Garlic Oyster Sauce

7/30/2015

Today's recipe is going to be a quick and easy meal for when you want delicious food that doesn't take hours to cook.

You'd want to have company when you cook this because if you don't then you're going to want to eat it all!

Cornflake Marshmallow Chocolate Chunk Cookies

7/22/2015

Could a (cookie) name get any longer?!

Actually I'm not really complaining because how can I? This cookie tastes sooo damn good!

I should probably calm down for a little bit, don't you think?

Chocolate Cake with Whipped Chocolate Buttercream

7/16/2015

Have you ever thought about baking a cake?

How many cake recipes do you have bookmarked?  How often do you ogle at such beautiful creations (hello, Linda Lomelino) and wonder when you'll be able to produce anything just as great?

Does the idea of making a cake starting with the layers to the frosting and then assembling/decorating daunt you?

If you're a pro, I'll understand that it doesn't.  Or maybe it still does.  But the point is there's just something about making your own cake that is intimidating but oh so satisfying altogether!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

7/08/2015

Today I bring you something healthy (ish) but still is a treat because... it's packed with butter!

Why'd I say healthy? Well, these cookies are packed with oats and raisins, too!

But did I say these are also packed with butter? Not that I have an issue with butter because butter makes everything better! (!!!)

Creamy Chicken Soup

6/12/2015

This one is going to be for those days when you want something hearty and remind you of all that is good in the world.

Because it is that good.

Ahh just the sight of this simple noodle soup makes me happy.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies

6/04/2015

I hope one day when I start a post I'll actually know how to start it.

So I'll bore you with a few things.

Brown Butter Walnut Blondies!

5/25/2015

A day after my last post, Juventus denied Real Madrid a chance to defend their Champions League title.

And I may have you saying 'What on earth are you talking about? Is this a different blog?'.

No, my dear friend, this is still the Abbyisabee food blog!

It's just that even after a week and a few days I'm still quite sad about it.

But Alvaro Morata = little adorable bae; so I'm going to get over it eventually.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Confetti Cookies

5/13/2015

Let me tell you that these soft, peanut butter-y goodness just saved the day.

I had originally planned on making some double chocolate baked donuts.

But I don't own a donut pan.

Easy and Light Lemon Loaf

5/07/2015

Sometimes one just has to have a slice or two of freshly baked lemon loaf.

Trust me when I say I love chocolate but it's nice to change it up a bit sometimes, right?

So, this loaf! This incredibly easy lemon loaf!

Double Chocolate Banana Muffins!

5/02/2015

We all know the saying 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade'.

This post is neither about lemons nor about making lemonade.

Basically...

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Champorado (Chocolate Rice Porridge)!

4/06/2015

Everyone has their favorite childhood food.

This one right here is my ultimate favorite.

The sweetened condensed milk-drawn flower included.

Chocolate-y Cupcakes with Whipped Cream Frosting

3/28/2015

The month of March is almost up but before it closes officially let me present this long overdue post about my favorite cupcake flavor ever.

Chocolate.

Abbyisabee goes to Liliw, Laguna!

3/12/2015

One cloudy day, we decided to go to Liliw, Laguna and I'd like to share a few photos I took that day!

Toasted Marshmallow Squares

3/01/2015

Let me begin by saying that one Sunday, I got a very nice and sweet surprise whilst browsing the cooking/baking section at a bookstore.

I did a double take because I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!

What am I gushing about? Well, it's that majestic object in the center of the photo above!

Have A Banana Bread with Nutella For Breakfast!

2/22/2015

Yo.  How are you doing, gal/pal?

Hope you're doing just great and I hope you will allot time so you can make this banana bread for breakfast!

Vanilla Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting

2/13/2015

I feel that I should start by saying that this is my second vanilla cupcake blog post.

Have you seen the first one? Which also happened to be my very first cupcake post ever?

And if you already saw it then you'd know I didn't have any luck whatsoever with that particular cupcake and frosting combo.

But!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

2/06/2015

I already had a post ready for this particular recipe.

But that was when I could only use my camera's phone to take pictures.

And now?

Homemade Doughnuts with Chocolate Glaze

1/30/2015

Ladies and gents, here before you are the first ever doughnuts I made.

If you're applauding me for even attempting to recreate such a classic comfort food at home, thank you, thank you!

One Brownie Recipe, Countless Possibilities!

1/14/2015

Is that even possible?

I think so.

This delicious cheesecake brownie recipe is by Laura Vitale and that woman knows good food.

Good food that don't require any super powers to make.

Funfetti Cupcakes

1/08/2015

I may have already mentioned in a post that ever since I bought sprinkles (nonpareils? Jimmies?) I always feel the need to use them.

 All. The. Time.

Welcoming 2015 in Baguio!

1/04/2015

Hello, dear one.  It has been way too long since my last post where I told you about how I found and eventually fell for this lovely and easy orange cake.

I know, I know. Neglecting one's infant blog for more than a month is just plain unacceptable!  How could I?!

It's just that come the month of December things start to reach ultra cray level and I had to:
 - meet deadlines and make sure everything is A-OK at work before the vacation starts
 - buy/bake gifts for the lovely people in my life
 - plan my outfits
 - schedule a get-together with friends (I got to try kimchi rice for the first time!)
 - help at the kitchen (which also translates to being a taste tester)
 - pack for the trip to Baguio!
